Veneers Colombia

dentioral

For some years dentistry has begun to cover not only the functional component of the teeth, but also to worry about the visual or aesthetic state of the smile. Unfortunately, not everyone is born with straight, white and perfectly proportioned teeth. For this reason, dentistry has developed different techniques focused on the cosmetic or aesthetics of the teeth and some structures of the mouth.

This type of treatment achieves a reflection of confidence and happiness in patients, in addition to influencing self-esteem and generating a positive impact on the perception that others have about these patients. In addition to treatments such as teeth whitening or gingivectomy (gum trimming), there is a treatment called veneers Colombia that manages to improve the state of your smile in a short time.

What are dental veneers?

Veneers are a solution to various problems in a fast way and generating a great dental aesthetics. Some of the problems they solve are tooth discoloration, wear, fractures, disproportions, some kind of malposition, small diastemas and dental spaces. Colombia veneers consist of adapting a thin layer of resin (composite), ceramic or zirconium on the front side of the tooth in order to improve its appearance.

Types of dental veneers

Veneers can be divided into 4 types depending on the material used and the needs of each patient, so we will explain in detail the characteristics of each one:

1. Ceramic or porcelain veneers Dental ceramic is a material composed of metal oxides that are sintered at high temperatures to obtain a solid piece, with little porosity and very resistant mechanically. Ceramic dental veneers are produced in a dental laboratory and are permanently adapted to the teeth, which is why they have become the most common and recommended treatment to improve the smile. Colombia ceramic veneers do not tend to stain, the patient can select the shade of white he/she wants and it also resembles a natural tooth faithfully, even imitating the translucency.

2. Resin or composite veneers Resin veneers can be made in two ways, direct or indirect. Direct means that they are made on the natural tooth, applying the resin layer by layer to give a desired shape and harmonious, then polished and shiny to give a better finish. Indirect resin veneers are made in the same way as ceramic veneers, that is, in a dental laboratory after taking an impression of the patient's teeth. Both techniques have great results and the professional is the one who decides which technique to use according to the patient's needs. It should be remembered that this material tends to discolor or stain over time and is a little less resistant than ceramic, which is why periodically a maintenance session is required in which a dental cleaning is performed, the worn or fractured parts are restored and polished and shined again.

3. Zirconium veneers Zirconium is a material that stands out for being very resistant, giving translucency like natural teeth and having more intense white tones, because of this it is a compound used in recent times in the dental area, specifically in orthodontics and dental esthetics. The zirconium veneers are considered premium treatments and its execution is the same as the one performed with ceramic veneers; the only difference is the material used.

4. Ceramic lens veneers Colombia veneers in ceramic lens are a type of ultra-thin veneers that have the objective of not wearing down or minimally wearing down the surface of the natural tooth to be able to adapt the veneers. In this sense, if the wear is minimal or null, the treatment can be reversed without any problem.

Types of materials used in veneers

The materials with which veneers are built are varied depending mainly on the needs of patients, the economic component and the resistance, below, we delve into the 3 types of materials that are used:

1. Ceramics or porcelain

The term "ceramic" comes from the Greek keramike which means burnt clay. As described above, ceramic or porcelain is a material composed of metal oxides that are sintered at high temperatures to obtain a solid piece, with low porosity and high mechanical strength.

The microstructure obtained after sintering provides special optical properties for dental work such as fluorescence, translucency, opacity and opalescence, as well as great mechanical properties such as wear resistance, hardness and flexural strength. Finally, due to its microstructure it also becomes a biocompatible chemically inert material.

2. Resin or composite

The resin is composed of several elements, the first is the organic or resinous matrix containing Bis-GMA (bisphenol glycidyl methacrylate) which is an element with a high molecular weight and generates a solidity and mechanical resistance. The second component is the inorganic filler which is mainly composed of one of these elements: quartz, zirconate or aluminum silicates. This filler will depend on each brand and the purpose for which the resin is developed. The third element is the coupling or bonding agent; for there to be a bond between the organized matrix and the inorganic filler, this bonding agent, which is generally silane, must be present.

As a fourth component we have the initiators, which are those components that awaken the activator, and depending on the type of polymerization we find the self-curing ones such as benzoyl peroxide or the photo polymerization ones such as camphor quinone. As a fifth element we find the polymerization inhibitors that without them the resins by nature would have to self-activate, among them we find PMP and BHT. Finally, there are the pigments that are very similar to those of ceramics; these are aluminum oxide and titanium oxide or titanium dioxide.

3. Zirconium

It is a kind of metal in crystalline form, obtained from the mineral zircon, in which it is found in silicate form. This material is characterized by its white color, its translucency, its malleability, it’s very high strength and its total biocompatibility.

When is veneers treatment recommended?

The cases for which veneers Colombia are recommended are varied and below we detail each one of them:

  • Tooth depigmentation: after going through a tooth whitening process, and not be able to recover the tone of the teeth, since they are very stained and discolored, it is feasible to analyze the treatment of veneers.
  • Wear: if the natural teeth have excessive wear, it is possible to recover the length and shape of the teeth
  • Malposition: although orthodontics corrects this type of pathology, dental veneers can also be used to solve this problem in a much shorter time.
  • Dental fractures: if teeth are frequently fractured or have suffered a major fracture, a veneer can be used to correct this problem.
  • Spaces or diastemas: since the professional has the power to design the veneers as they best fit the patient, it is possible to disguise the spaces between teeth with the adaptation of veneers.
  • Uneven teeth. Like malposition, veneers can give a sense of perfection to the smile.

To conclude, we can affirm that veneers treatment in Colombia, besides being able to solve several dental problems, can be applied to the patient in a shorter time, adapts to the particular conditions of the patients and has several materials of high resistance and aesthetics that can be available to the patient.
